We have now been in Dubai for a week. It has gone pretty quickly and we have packed it full of chores/activities. In the past week we have:
- inspected half a dozen properties;
- took part in the Dubai marathon (nb we didn’t do the full marathon);
- drove to the UAE/Oman border and saw the highest point in the UAE;
- explored the area where W will be working;
- eaten an extravagant brunch at Al Qasr hotel;
- found a great cafe which does great coffee (thank god); and
- seen a camel market amongst the sand dunes.
All in all a pretty good week.
Tomorrow marks the beginning of W’s working career in Dubai. Although it means the end of holidays, we are both pretty excited.
The last few days have absolutely flown by. We are now staying at the Dusit Thani hotel (which is pretty nice), after being picked up at the airport in an S Class AMG. We have been keeping busy looking at houses (some great finds, some disappointments), getting a phone number, exercising and shopping. No real relaxation yet, although that will change soon.
We are both so glad that we have made the move, and we’re really enjoying it here.
Here is a summary of our first few days…

One thing we are both grateful for is the fact that W’s employer is taking care of Visa’s, shipping our belongings and organising flights. But there is a growing list of things to do, not least of all being organising when these two dickheads will be joining us.

I try to stay away from these kinds of places. I am never dedicated enough to search the net for interesting things, nor do I really have any thoughts that I am yearning to share with the world. With that said I have gone to the effort setting up a tumblr and dedicating myself to documenting my thoughts. The reason why I have made this 180 is because in a little over 2 months I, along with my partner in crime Britty, will be packing up our lives and travelling across the globe to set up shop in Dubai. This will be a port of call (hopefully) for friends and family to see our thoughts and day to day happenings.
Anyway, more posts to follow on what I am doing and why (and probably a lot of distractions), but for now, this is where we are going:
